Many individuals I encounter frequently express their belief that online Yoga is not suitable for them. In general, I concur with this sentiment. Engaging in online classes that are pre-recorded or live-streamed can pose risks, as the lack of proper teacher supervision may result in incorrect alignment leading to potential injuries over time. Nonetheless, online classes offer significant advantages in terms of convenience and consistency. The key challenge lies in harnessing this potential while mitigating the risk of injuries.
Online classes of high quality have the potential to enhance both physical and mental well-being, leading to improvements in various chronic conditions like arthritis, obesity, sleep disorders, stress, migraines, diabetes, digestive problems, and hormonal imbalances.
It assists in maintaining energy levels throughout the day while promoting a feeling of peace and tranquility.
Class Size
The primary requirement is a limited number of participants. Classes should be capped at 9-10 individuals to ensure adequate attention for each person. Large classes may result in insufficient individual focus. It is advisable for novice practitioners to avoid attending crowded classes. Our online sessions are restricted to 9 participants, and if the number exceeds this limit, I divide them into two groups. Through experience, I have realized the importance of providing continuous supervision to all participants. I am familiar with the common errors and physical inclinations of each individual, and I make sure to address them during the class.
Connectionn between Teacher and participant
Good connection with a teacher is not easy to establish during online classes, yet it is very important. When there is a good connection, the participant is relaxed and can practice with full trust. I also notice much more improvement in people who have a better individual connection between teacher and student, which is why I meet with each participant informally. Together with the health disclaimer form, energy type form, and in-person meeting, it helps me to understand the main issues of each individual and find the right guidance for each participant.
Teacher experience
Experience and the right training of a teacher are very important. Only after I finished an 800-hour Yoga Therapy program and after teaching Yoga daily, could I gain enough skills and knowledge to help people with different issues. People have very different body types and health issues, which is why each yoga alignment is individual. Only a very trained teacher can help with it.
Complementary inperson sessions
Having multiple one-on-one sessions or attending several in-person classes is crucial for ensuring safe online practice. Despite being able to identify misalignments on the screen due to my experience, it remains essential to provide physical guidance to individuals for making adjustments, as this hands-on approach allows them to truly perceive the difference.
Visibility is Important
Prior to starting the class, ensure that you have arranged two cameras: one for your view of the teacher and another for the teacher's view of you, both positioned at different angles. Using just a single camera will require you to constantly turn your head towards the screen, leading to discomfort and visual distortions.
Choose a suitable time and stick to it.
Choose the time slots and stick to them. For example, 3 times a week in the morning is the best according to Yoga. It gives most benefits. But if you cannot, then try to find an afternoon or evening slot convenient for you. There will be many excuses to skip the class, so plan the session the day before. Mentally prepare yourself to attend the session in advance, make all arrangements during the day to make it happen. Gradually, it will become a habit and you will not miss sessions.
We offer various time slots for online classes, allowing you to select the one that best fits your schedule.
